Alzheimers-logo

Positive Ageing Week 2015 runs from 1st to 9th October and KBowl, the Ten Pin Bowling Centre in MacDonagh Junction Shopping Centre is inviting the senior citizens of Kilkenny to come bowling to raise money for Kilkenny Alzheimers Day Care Centre. The seniors are in for a special treat because especially for Positive Ageing Week as well as bowling they will get fresh scones with jam along with a nice cuppa for just €2 each. Every €2 raised with be donated to the Kilkenny Alzheimers Day Care Centre.

All Welcome

As well as active retirement groups it’s important to note small groups of seniors as well as active retirement groups are especially welcome. Just pre-book in advance 056-7788200. Bowling is a fun activity enjoyed by thousands of Irelands senior citizens. KBowl proprietor Shane Murphy said it is not even about the pins they knock, it’s about meeting friends and socialising in a nice warm comfortable environment.

Senior Friendly

Ten Pin Bowling is actually “seniors friendly” as players have the options to use ramps at the top of the lanes instead of throwing the ball at the pins. When using ramps players just place the ball on the ramp and then simply push them off. Balls vary in weight as well so there is a ball to suit all strengths and ages. Scoring is done on automated system which takes care of itself. Scoring is even made easier with the use of lane side barriers which ensure the ball does not fall into the gutter.
Anyone interested in taking part please contact Aileen in KBowl on 056-7788200
